I've just received the Quark Mini 123 from 4sevens.com!

Wow. it is small and light. Feels great in hand. Nice knurlings and a bit of indented body for more secure grip.

Has a simple twisty activation and comes with Low-Med-High 3 mode by default. (does have hidden strobe/sos modes)

It's very bright! Apparently up to around 190 lumens out the front. That's at least 220+ lumens at emitter imo.

Comes in a gift box with a nice high quality and very long lanyard + hook clip and a spare o-ring.

Back of the battery barrel has a big spring inside and has enough depth / travel for even protected RCRs.

It doesn't crush the batteries whatsoever. However, there isn't a reverse polarity protection. Well, I never needed it. =P

I hope to write up a review soon. This time, with beam shots. (gawd, my reviews lately don't have any. I know. Sorry)

Some extra observations:

1. The threads have enough travel that even when you've unscrewed it enough to turn it off, if you squeeze it, it turn on. (Like a momentary switch)

2. It tail stands flat and stable even with it attached to the lanyard.

Wow! It really is tiny. My smallest single CR123 is pretty much the same length as the Trustfire light. Pity it won't take an 18650 :)

Looking forward to your review Jay, I’d be interested in how it copes with heat considering the small size and low mass.

Nice looking light though.

I haven't had too much timt to use it today but I did try using RCR with it (haven't checked if it's okay to do so) and after only like 5 minutes, it got quite hot. I think it'll get too hot to use after about 15minuts of constant High mode. Well, it's only guessing atm. I'll try and will report back later on or in my review. I've already taken the kitchen shots with it at least. =)

Here's some new budget lights from the company Small Sun which appeared at DX few days ago. Smallsun ZY-C81 Cree Q3-WC 3-Mode (Black or Grey) This looks to me like a pretty decent budget RCR light for only $10. 3 modes. High-Low-Strobe. Tactical-like rear clickie. Looks like the more expensive Nitecore light.... =P http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.33602 http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.33603 Smallsun ZY-C...

Romisen RC-A5 Q5 AA/RCR 3 mode. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.32948 http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.32947 As seen by the name, it has a Cree XR-E Q5 emitter. It also supports 1 x AA/14500 using an extender or 1 x RCR without. Although it doesn't say 14500, it's a given that it can be used also. =) Lastly, ...

Just got an Aurora SH-032, a Trustfire F22, an Uniquefire S10 and an Aurora SH0030 single mode light. Links Aurora SH-032 Stainless Steel Cree Q3-WC 3-Mode 160-Lumen Memory LED Flashlight (1*18650) (Bottom Left) This has Cree R2 engraved on the head and seems rather brighter than a Q3. Will do tests shortly. It is pretty small for an 18650 light and is so shiny it looks like it has been chromed. Nicely made...
