Hello guy's
My first flashlight is on it's way
I ordered Ultrafire Stainless Steel C3
I am thinking of doing my first modification. I will make a extension tube from SS so to use 2AA instead of 1.
But i don't now if there is a real gain to this. Will the flashlight be brighter or will it just have better runtimes?

I think no one will fake Ultrafires, because the brand Ultrafire is a copycat of high quality lights. They started out with Surefire clones. If a flashlight component is cheaper somewhere else, they will change the deliverer. That's why there are so many different versions of the same light. This is why budget light reviews are so tricky, if there are so big quality and component (especially driver) fluctuations. Of the 5 UF lights I had the possibility to check out, 3 had major/minor defects.

It's a pity the C£ stainless doesn't use the same threads as the aluminium ones or I'd try the extenders I have for the aluminium ones. Even a 3AA configuration might be possible for heaps of light for a decent time without the heat that you get from 14500's. Anything the can run on 14500 should cope with 3AAs- just. Here's a pic of the single mode Aurora SH0030 doing just that. Those are two C cells beside it. The result is 200mm (8") long.

Which one did you get?

Both can handle 2AA but as the voltage is only 2.8volts or so with 2AA, it's hard to say how it'll behave.
If the driver is anything like the original C3, it'll just provide much longer runtime but not brighter output.
